This study examines the interregional mobility of science and technology (S&T) graduates in South Korea and, using Busan as a case study, compares the employment characteristics of those who remain in the region with those who leave. Network-based centrality analysis identifies Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungnam as primary regions for overall S&T talent flows, while Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Daejeon emerge as the main hubs for postgraduate talent. Busan and Gyeongbuk are classified as supply-oriented regions actively fostering and exporting talent, whereas most non-metropolitan regions fall into the category of peripheral areas with both inflows and outflows below the national average. The Busan case shows that firm size is more strongly associated with migration decisions than wage levels. These results suggest that S&T graduates consider not only monetary compensation but also non-wage factors—such as employee benefits, corporate reputation, and career development opportunities—typically associated with larger firms when choosing where to work.
