This study proposes a conceptual lens that enables a comprehensive analysis of climate risks within the context of “education-population structure-climate change” dynamics based on vulnerability, a core element of the IPCC’s risk framework. To this end, we conducted a narrative review of 82 publications across three thematic areas covering education and population structure, population structure and climate change, and education and climate change. Education is not merely a socioeconomic explanatory variable but a key factor influencing fertility and mortality as well as accumulation of human capital, thereby supporting a transition from quantitative to qualitative population growth. This transition is presented as a potential long-term structural pathway linking changes in population structure to climate change vulnerability and adaptive capacity. Furthermore, the pathway exhibits spatial heterogeneity, operating unevenly depending on local socioeconomic contexts. This study is significant in that it examines the relationships among education, population structure, and climate change not as a linear causal chain but as a long-term, structural interaction, thereby offering a dynamic perspective for addressing climate risk.
